Baffinland Iron Mines Corporation

Mary River Iron Ore Project, Nunavut, Canada

Baffinland Iron Mines Corporation's Mary River iron ore deposit is located 160 km south of Pond Inlet, Baffin Island, Nunavut. The project involves the construction, operation, closure and reclamation of an 18 million tonne-per-annum (Mt/a) open pit mine.

Nuna's Role

Bulk Sample Contract - 2007 / 2008

In 2007, Nuna mobilized its heavy equipment comprising excavator, loaders, dozers, packer, crusher, conventional and mining trucks, mobile ambulance, 54-person camp, shop and 100 sea-containers.  Once mobilized, Nuna provided services for:

• transportation of 2 million liters of fuel from Milne Inlet to Mary River;

• mining, crushing and delivery to Milne Inlet 122,000 tonnes of iron ore from 1 deposit;

• construction and maintenance of 120 km access road, earthworks for camp pads and berms.
