Kennecott Canada Exploration Inc. operates a number of exploration projects in the Slave Geological Region around and to the south of Lupin Mine Site (located 400 km north of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories).  Kennecott Exploration is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and manages Rio Tinto's exploration activities for the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Nuna's Role

Nuna provided logistics, access and drill support services for Kennecott's exploration properties plus:

Earthworks & Runways

• preparation of a temporary airstrip; and

• establishment of drilling pads.

Ice Roads / Ice Pads

• constructed 65 km ice road off of the Tibbitt to Contwoyto Winter Road to the Afridi Lake area; and

• transported fuel from Yellowknife, NT to the site.

Support and Logistics

• mobilized and provided a fully staffed 40-man camp facility.
