Jericho Diamond Mine Project, Nunavut, Canada
The Jericho Diamond Mine is located 605 km north of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The mine became Canada's 3rd diamond mine and Nunavut's 1st when it opened in 2006. The mine stopped production in 2008 when owner/operator, Tahera Diamond Corporation's filed for bankruptcy protection. The mine is presently under the Government of Nunavut's care and maintenance.
Nuna's Role

Construction and maintenance of a winter access road to the Jericho site which included a segment constructed of snow and ice over a substantial boulder field.

Construction of site all-weather roads, lay down area, tank farm and the installation of a camp.

Construction of a 3,960' all-weather airstrip.

Transportation of supplies and equipment to support an underground bulk sample program.

Construction and maintenance of a winter road and the transportation of 1,500 tonnes of bulk sample to the test plant at Lupin.

Construction of site infrastructure, road ways, pads, dams, laydowns and other earthworks.

Contract open pit mining (9,000,000 MT per year).
